Title: Itsy Bitsy Spider
Artist:
EliZe
Itsy bitsy spider, waiting on the wall
You better watch out or she will have you caught
It is a constant strain, constant pain watching you deny
That her plans to catch you, starts when you tell lies
No matter how obvious you seem like you're blind
Can't you feel problems that creep up from behind
Baby, you are not a boy there are things that you should see
The strings she's tied you must cut loose, it's up to you not me,
It's up to you not me
Itsy bitsy spider climbing on the wall
Better watch your step or in her web you'll fall
Spin you round in circles in a net of doubt
Baby if you're stuck I'm done with you
Cause I won't get you out
The way she's got you worked out she can't have no rest
You must wake up she's crawling in our nest
You're hands are tied we are stuck in a web of lies
I think it's time we said our goodbyes
Baby, you act like a boy there are things I know you'll see
The strings we tied I cut you loose you're not a man to me,
You're not a man to me
Itsy bitsy spider climbing on the wall
Better watch your step or in her web you'll fall
Spin you round in circles in a net of doubt
Baby if you're stuck I'm done with you
Cause I won't get you out
Itsy bitsy spider climbing all over my wall, I'm telling you
Everyday a new mess, cause you are so spineless
Denying when you can, she's trying to steel my man
Baby don't you know that it in the end
If she managed to convince you
I'd rather be her best friend You get it?
Itsy bitsy spider climbing on the wall
Better watch your step or in her web you'll fall

Here
is a song about spiders from the Toy Dolls.
Spiders In The Dressing Room
I Was Getting Dressed Late One Night
Along Came A Spider And I Got A Fright
Oh I Could Not Squash It Flat
No Matter How I Tried
And When It Looked Me In The Eye
I Ran Away To Hide
I Put On Me Doctor Martin Shoes
A Battle With The Spider That I Wasn't Gonna Loose
A Kick From The Left A Kick From The Right
I Was On The Floor But I Was Alright
It Was Gonna Be A Long Long Night
Spiders In The Dressing Room
Spiders Everywhere
Spider In The Dressing Room Beware
Spiders In The Dressing Room
Spiders Everywhere
Spider In The Dressing Room Beware
Things Were Getting Hot And I Had To Take A Chance
The Spider Got Impatient
Started Crawling Up Me Pants
I Shook It Off Me Leg Thump It Hit The Ground
Everything Was Silent So I Didn't Make A Sound
|
I Crossed The Room As Happy As Can Be
I Had Killed The Spider Now It Couldn't Bother Me
But With Me Arm On The Light
He Was There Ready For A Fight
It Was Gonna Be A Long Long Night
It Was Getting Late And The Spider Wasn't Dead
An Audience Had Gathered Round
And I Was Going Red
I Put A Jam Jar On The Floor
The Spider Crawled Inside It
I Screwed The Lid Back On The Top
And Threw The Jar Outside
At A Party Late That Night
Everything Was Bright And Gay
We Played All Our Pop Records And Danced The Night Away
Early In The Morning Came A Knocking At The Door
I Opened It Slowly Guess What I Saw
It Was Gonna Be A Long Long Night

If you have never heard this it is a great
classic rock tune from the 60's. give it a spin!
Artist: The Who -
Song: Boris The Spider |
We used to sing this one in school.
I know
that it's not totally about
spiders, but I think it works
for your site. You can use it if
you so choose.
Take
care. Chris, Austin, TX

Look, he's crawling up my wall
Black and hairy, very small
Now he's up above my head
Hanging by a little thread
Boris the spider
Boris the spider
Now he's dropped on to the floor
Heading for the bedroom door
Maybe he's as scared as me
Where's he gone now, I can't see
Boris the spider
Boris the spider
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
There he is wrapped in a ball
Doesn't seem to move at all
Perhaps he's dead, I'll just make sure
Pick this book up off the floor
Boris the spider
Boris the spider
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
He's come to a sticky end
Don't think he will ever mend
Never more will he crawl 'round
He's embedded in the ground
Boris the spider

I know an old lady who swallowed a fly.
I don't know why she swallowed a fly.
I guess she'll die.
I know an old lady who swallowed a SPIDER .
It wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the SPIDER to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed the fly.
I guess she'll die.
I know an old lady who swallowed a bird.
How obsurd to swallow a bird!
She swallowed the bird to catch the SPIDER
That wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the SPIDER to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed the fly.
I guess she'll die.
I know an old lady who swallowed a cat.
Think of that, to swallow a cat!
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird.
She swallowed the bird to catch the SPIDER
That wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her.
She swallowed the SPIDER to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed the fly.
I guess she'll die.
I know an old lady who swallowed a dog.
What a hog, to swallow a dog!
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird.
She swallowed the bird to catch the SPIDER
That wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside
her.
She swallowed the SPIDER to catch the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed the fly.
I guess she'll die.
I know an old lady who swallowed a goat.
Just opened up her throat and swallowed a
goat!
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog.
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the
bird.
She swallowed the bird to catch
the SPIDER
That wiggled and jiggled and
tickled inside her.
She swallowed the SPIDER to catch
the fly.
I don't know why she swallowed
the fly.
I guess she'll die.
I know an old lady who swallowed
a horse...
She died of course!

While I was looking at your web page I printed out
some of the spider songs that I wasn't familiar with. I have
been doing a spider unit with my first graders for about 15 years and
I'm sending you a song that I teach them every year during "Spider
Month". You sing it to the tune of 'Daisy, Daisy'.
Spider, spider,
You are a friend, I know.
You eat bugs that eat little plants that grow,
You really are not so scary,
You're not so very hairy,
You have 8 feet,
Your web is neat,
Little spidery friend of mine.

Vikki Chislett, mentiond a song that has a referance to
spiders in it. I found it while trying to find out what
the song is called.. (still don't know). It was the first
record i ever had (i was about 5) , i remember the cover had a
big colourful dragon on the front (a bit like puff the magic
dragon) with circles of colour all over its skin.
From memory, i can remember the following verses:
<first verse>
I can see a hairy spider, creeping up on me,
He says he's gonna gobble me up, and have me for his tea
He says he will, but he won't,
He says he will, but he won't,
I know....
Coz my mummy says so!
mole(y) mole(y) in your hole(y), why are you so shy,
i whish you'd come and play with me, oh, mole(y) won't you try,
i wish you would but you won't,
i wish you would but you won't,
i know...
coz my teacher said so!
<last verse>
i can see a nasty spider, creeping up on you,
he says he's gonna gobble you up, and have you in his stew,
he says he will, and he will.
he says he will, and he will.
i know...
coz he told me so!
hope it helps and if anyone remembers this song (and who
relised it), please....... tell me so!

Dear Glen,
Here is a spider song I used to sing in primary school a very long
time ago:
I can see a nasty spider, creeping up on me,
He says he's gonna gobble me up, and have me for his tea
He says he will, but he won't, (repeat)
And I know....
Coz my mummy says so!
We used to be made to play the guitar at the same time but I can't
remember the chords, sorry! This song definitely came to mind after I
had stopped screaming, when a massive huntsman crept up on me
and then scuttled across the dashboard this morning! I never
realised I was afraid of spiders until I saw it's big hairy
body! I am a definite fan of your website though, it has some great
photographs and information on some truly amazing creatures. Even
living in Australia (I am originally from the very spider-safe U.K.),
and being scared of the dangerous spiders here, I do continue to find
them fascinating.
Regards,
Vikki Chislett |

This is in response to the call for spider songs on your Web page. You have some songs there which I've never heard, I've downloaded them and
we intend to teach some of them to our Cub Scouts. I have no clue what the tune of "Alice the Camel" is, however.
In the US, virtually every young child learns this song. The tune is similar to "Down by the Station" but since I can't send musical notation I'm afraid that
you'll have to ad-lib the details. The last line uses the same tune as the first, unlike the "clang, clang toot, toot" line of D b t S.
The Eensy-Weensy Spider
The eensy-weensy spider went up the water-spout. (Interlace thumbs and wiggle fingers like spider-legs in time to the music while
"climbing")
Down came the rain and washed the spider out! (Sweep hands downward and outward)
Out came the sun, and dried up all the rain, (Raise hands above head with fingers spread to represent the sun)
And the eensy-weensy spider went up the spout again. (repeat gesture from first line.)

10 Little Spiders (10 little

One spider up & two spiders down. (Some up on tiptoes. Squat down.)
Three spiders turn around and 'round (Turn around slowly)
Four spiders smile, & then they frown (Smile & frown)
All on Halloween night! (Rock head from side to side)
Five spiders in and six spiders out (Move wiggling fingers into & out
of a cupped hand)
Seven spiders spin around about. (Spin around quickly)
Eight spiders climb the waterspout (Pretend to climb)
All on Halloween night! (Rock head from side to side)
Nine spiders each have eight little legs (Hold up & wiggle 8 fingers)
Ten spiders lay little spider eggs (Make egg shape with fingers)
All spiders wiggle their little legs (Wiggle legs)
All on Halloween night! (Rock head from side to side)

Oh, That Spider!
Tune: Oh, Susanna
I was sitting in my room one day
When it came right through the door
A big spider sped right by me
Went racing 'cross the floor
CHORUS:
Oh, that spider!
Oh, how it scared me so!
But spiders can be good friends
And so I let it go.
I watched it crawl up on the wall,
To find a spot just right.
It spun a web so beautiful
And then went out of sight.
CHORUS:
Now bugs and flies do not scare me
For I know that it's true.
That a spiderweb is good to have
Bugs stick to it like glue.
CHORUS: |
The Spider in the Web
Tune: Farmer in the Dell
The spider in the web.
The spider in the web.
Spin, spin, oh, watch him spin,
The spider in the web.
The spider eats a _____. (any kind of bug)
The spider eats a _____.
Spin, spin, oh, watch him spin,
The spider in the web.
Sammy the Spider
Tune: Alice the Camel
Sammy the spider has eight legs,
Sammy the spider has eight legs,
Sammy the spider has eight legs,
'Cause Sammy's a spider, of course! |
| .. |
Spin Little Spider
Tune: Farmer in the Dell
Spin little spider, spin! (spin around)
Spin little spider, spin!
'Round and 'round and up and down
Spin little spider, spin!
Crawl little spider, crawl! (crawl around)
Crawl little spider, crawl!
'Round and 'round and up and down
Crawl little spider, crawl!
Dance little spider, dance! (dance around)
Dance little spider, dance!
'Round and 'round and up and down
Dance little spider, dance! |
There's a Spider on the Wall
Tune: Twinkle Little Star
There's a spider on the wall
If he's careful he won't fall
He moves slowly down the wall
I can watch him crawl and crawl
I wonder if he minds my stare
Or does he know and just not care? |

Spider, Spider
Fingerplay
Spider hurrying,
(Run fingers back and forth.)
Spider scurrying,
See her silken thread.
(Stretch thread between fingers and thumb.)
Spider hurrying,
(Run fingers back and forth.)
Spider scurrying,
See her little web.
(Make spiral with fingers.) |
I'm a Little Spider
Tune: I'm a Little Teapot
I'm a little spider watch me spin
If you'll be my dinner
I'll let you come in
Then I'll spin a web to hold you tight
And gobble you up in one big bite! |
