Comments: I was recently bitten on the ankle by a necrotic spider of some sort.
Five days later, my wound looked like the Day 5 necrotic wound illustration on
your site. After aggressive antibiotic treatment, the wound improved and is on
the mend. I am now looking for a photo of the spider that dropped from my
rear-view mirror in my car, as I believe it was the spider which caused my
distress. Congratulations on a fascinating site, fifth graders!

Comments: I just got home from the store & was putting things away. Went to
reach into the sink & saw something about the size of a half dollar. I turned on
the light & grabbed to pieces of paper towel & caught it. It had long skinny
legs - front 2 were black - the rest were a light brown. I woke up my husband.
The body was kinda like a hour glass - but long not fat. It had 2 lines that
made kinda a figure eight on its back. But the markings never touched in the
middle. Scared the %#$&* out of me. Needless to say I flushed it & started
checking out this sight to see if I can identify it. Nothing looks close - but
maybe I over looked something. You do have a wonderful sight though
congrats!!!Please let me know if you have any idea's. I know I won't be going to
bed any time soon tonite. He He GRINZ!

Found: MSN Search on poisonous spiders in Kentucky
Phrase: A pizza would taste really good right now!
Comments: I love your site! I came across it when searching for poisonous
spiders in Kentucky, because about 24 hours ago I was bitten by a spider, don't
have a clue what it was, and unfortunately, I got scared of it and flushed it
before I thought about how I should keep it (I know, I know... I should have
kept
it, but I have mild arachniphobia and I couldn't think straight.). I didn't find
a picture of the spider on your website, but if you've ever heard of this one
(or if someone reading this has) I would dearly love the input. The spider could
have sat on a quarter with its legs spread fully, although its body was quite
small. It was an odd purplish brown in color, and had tan diamonds stacked in a
column running down its abdomen. It was on the floor, and it had long, thin legs
with no visible hair. I didn't get a good look at it, but as far as I could see
its fangs and eyes weren't very easy to see. It ran quite quickly, and bit me on
my second toe on my left foot. Within 24 hours, its a dark red, and I have put
some Gold Bond on it, which does not seem to work (and I am just now reading
your "How to treat a bite" section). I know I should go to the doctor but I do
want to find out if it's serious or not first; I heard that it's not serious if
no pain is experienced within the first day (I didn't feel any pain at first,
just a LOT of itching). If you
have any clue what bit me, it would mean a lot if you could let me in on it.

Comments: I found an Argiope behind my place of work. In 4 days it never moved
and allowed me to get a very good look at it. Unfortunately, I did not have a
camera. Curiosity of whether it was poisonous or not brought me to your fabulous
website. I lived in New Mexico for many years and there was a spider called
"Monkey Face" by locals. I am sure it is an Argiope as well. I used to find them
and put them in the doorways to keep moths and flies down around my entrances.
My friends thought I was crazy. I have no pictures of these
so-ugly-they-are-cute creatures. Maybe on of your western states visitors
has a picture of a monkey face.

I found in my backyard. I believe it is a Jeweled spider and I think its a
strange coincidence that my husband just returned from Australia on a business
trip!! Do you know if the Jeweled spider
is normally found in Texas since its so hot & humid here in the summer? Also,
this one is small, shiny black underneath with a yellow spiked "plate" on its
back with black dots on it. At first I thought it was a crab. I kept it for 2
days & let it go yesterday so it wouldn't starve to death.
