Comments: As a parent of a very curious 4 year old, especially with spiders and snakes, (maybe from me having such a great interest in these topics), I think that it is great that you are teaching children at a young age to respect one of natures smallest and facinating creatures, which can also be one of natures most dangerous as well, the respect these spiders need. I believe that if children learn about topics on venonous creatures in their areas then it will not only help to reduce the amount of bites, but also easier identification. As we parents know our child could most likely be bitten whilst playing with a friend, if a friend can identify the creature then it could also save a life. I think it is great and more pages like this one should be set up on venomous creatures involving school aged children, especially the younger ones.
Keep it up
Mrs McLeod.

Comments: 1) Looks good! I've only looked at the page on white-tailed spider, which I find rather sensationalist. Considering that there is no proven link between white-tailed spider bite and necrotising arachnidism, it is a bit strong to say "scientists are still battling to come up with a way of arresting the necrosis apart from amputation". According to one source, 8 out of 10 people bitten by this spider suffer no lasting symptoms at all.
2) I don't like the box above ("Which phrase...?"). What if none of the phrases best describes my "experience"? The options should be open.
Regards, Kim.

I told no-one in the family about it, as I thought they might kill it. I was not in any danger of being bitten by it, and neither were they. After months of satisfaction accorded by my watching, I had a house guest come to stay for a several nights. She used our laundry facilities early one morning, and, after going out to hang her clothes on the line, was heard to scream and shout and utter unearhtly cries. I raced outside to her aid, assuming that she was in some kind of distress. She was not - but "my" spider was. She, ashen faced, was triumphantly reporting in shakey tones that our family was now, thanks to her, rid of a poisenous menace. I was unable to comment.

Comments: Thanks for the great info! I teach spider programs in which I dress up as Arachne the Spider to teach people of all ages the benefits of spiders. I just bought myself a tarantula spiderling because it is impossible to find spiders in the winter in Ohio. Thanks for all the great info, this is the best spider site that I found.

Comments:I'm a first grade teacher in Palmdale, California. We will be doing a unit on spiders very soon and I was thrilled to find your web page. I don't have a computer in my classroom but many of the children have computers at home. Each week I send home a new URL to explore with the help of an adult. I can't wait for them to "explore" your site. Thanks!!!
