Comments: Thank you so much! After an hour + of surfing the web trying
to locate a good photo of a spider we saw in our doorway, I literally
"stumbled" onto your site! Thank you so much! Because of your
site, I now know that the really unique spider we have outside our
kitchen door is a Jewelled Spider. We had never seen anything like it
before! (We are originally from Michigan and have only been in LA for
just over 4 months!). Now I can rest a little easier knowing it's not
dangerous to me or my kids or pets if it decides to come inside! :) I
think the "face" on the bottom is just so COOL! (And I am NOT a big
spider fan, but I try to find out all I can to try to overcome my phobia
about spiders). Unfortunately, I could not get a good photo of our
visiting friend. Thanks again for such a great site! I have you marked
in "My Favorites" to make the ID process a lot easier (and quicker) in
the future!

Comments: I can't figure out how to
get an email to you to talk to you about the jeweled spiders I have been
enjoying in my atrium for the past two years.Interesting I googled
"Houston Spider" (images) and all of YOUR pictures showed up first. I
didn't even
specify which spider I was looking for because I didn't know it's name.
I guess these beauties are just very popular here. I have been allowing
the black and white ones to live here but the day a red one showed up
and then a green egg sack...I decide the
red one had to move!!! Thanks for the site. I am glad to know the name
of my amazing
friend.

Comments: Well. today i had a very life altering experience. See,
i was sitting in a chair, watching TV when my sister noticed a
particularly large spider on the ceiling (about half the diameter of my
pinky) ((We live in Michigan-- big for us)) I didnt think much of it at
the time.. i just avoided passing that spot on the ceiling of the
stairs. About an hour later i was going to go upstairs to change into
pajamas when to my horror i
noticed the spider was gone! I decided to go on a search for it and make
sure the little bugger hadn't gone into my bedroom. Sadly, it had. We
decided to go on a mission to kill it. From the looks of the spider, we
inferred that it was half black widow and half tarantula. Half black
widow being that it had a yellow dot on its back and half tarantula
being that it had particularly fat legs. We'd send you a picture but he
is currently
smushed into my floor. To avoid being killed first by this deadly spider
we took necessary precautions and kept our distance. First, we used
hairspray. Unfortunately that failed so we moved on to the poisonous ant
killer. After dousing him with the remaining ant killer, our spider
friend fell onto the floor and began to walk towards my clothes on the
floor. Running with all her might, my brave sister put on a boot and
squashed the life out of the unfortunate spider. Yes, i do feel a bit
bad but hey what can you say? Rather him dead then me! This is a true
story, and although we have no
picture to donate to your sight, i do hope i thrilled you with this
horrific tale.

Comments: How do you send a picture in. My wife and I are up
at 2:15 am looking for spider types because a spider that looked like a
Daddy Longlegs on steroids ran across my leg. I turned on the light and
it started running. I never saw a spider so fast!. We hit it with a
towel and it landed on the floor where I wrapped it up, threw the towel
in the bathroom, and then opened it up. I thought I crushed the spider,
but it was fine until I stepped on it. I thought we were finished, until
we went back to bed and another one
ran across my chest. I slammed it, hitting my wife in the back in the
process. I never saw her move so fast! It's crumpled up in a tissue. I
would like to take a picture and send it in to see what it might be. It
was light brownish, big like a Daddy Longlegs, but
a lot more beefy, and very fast. Thanks

site that most of them are harmless. Shizzle.
P.S. In my 6th gr. class, I have the most symathy for arachnids. My
Science teacher squished a common garden spider and I held a funeral
service for the little guy after school with some friends. P.P.S.
