Comments: I came looking for info because in the last few days we have found Black Widow spiders outside in our yard (where my young children like to play!). I'm collecting info to have on hand. By the way, earlier, in this same area of our yard my husband found a bright orange spider that now I realize had the same general shape as our Black Widows. Is this a variety or stage of the Black Widow? I'm interested in knowing to be able to warn my children. Also, the specimens that we have found have red spots on their backs as well as abdomen, is this common? Thank you for a very informative page!

Comments: We are homeshool students and we found a large spider in out house and mama being our teacher decided that we needed to do a report on it.
We found out that it was a Wolf Spider and without all the hard work U put into it, we would probably never have found out enough information about it to do our report.
We still have the spider (live) and have done some studies about the way it eats and it is a female. (We also found some baby wolf spiders with her) We think this is an awesome web site and we will be back.
