Comments: What a great website you have!!!  Congratulations on a pretty informative and amazing website !! Spiders generate such interest in people as they are such incredible animals. When you think about the countless species that remain unidentified, it is great to see the contribution that you are making to promote education about spiders, and to start the thirst for knowledge in young minds that
could last a lifetime and more. I will soon publish my own website and can tell you that i will deifenitely be adding your site to my links page. Keep up the good work !!

Comments: I've always been interested in any kind of insects, right from being a little girl. In my spare time, I do enjoy studying entomology, but this site has taught me a great deal! There is one question I do have though. A few weeks ago, I was loading some clothes into the washing machine and the last item of clothing was a black sock. Suddenly, I got this strange feeling to take the sock back out of the machine. I shook the sock over the kitchen sink, and out fell a spider. The spider is a red colour, with a deep red abdomon. The upper part of the spider is a brightish red colour, and it had
huge deep red fangs. There were no markings visible at all and I have only seen two of it's kind. It's about the size of a penny. (In sterling currency) Could you please help me with this and what family it might belong to? I have searched this whole site, and found nothing that represents a spider of that description. This site was one of the most enjoyable sites I have ever visited, and I am certainly going to come back in
the future!

Phrase: Fantastic!
Comments: This site put my fear of the oddly shaped spider into perspective. Thanks so much! I still have one question, and would gladly embrace any information on it...the spider in my door looks like a gasteracantha cancriformis, but without the red tips. It has black tips, and little yellow dots all over its belly. It is very small too, if that helps. Well thanks this site is great, I will recommend it!

Comments: I live in Portland Oregon area. I seem to have lots of spiders in my new place. Spiders are interesting, but I prefer them outside my house. I am a bit concerned about the spiders and wanted to learn more about them, but I don't see a picture that matches the spiders I have. The one closest is the Brown recluse. any ideas where else I can look? Or did I just miss something at your site. by the way, it is very good. I saved it as a favorite. Thanks,

Comments: This is my son's first year for homeschooling and we decided to study spiders when a garden spider built its web on our front porch. It is so beautiful. It layed its eggs and we can't wait to see them start hatching. Our book said the mother would die after laying the eggs but it has been several days now and she is still alive. We have enjoyed your sight immensely! It has been a great help.

Comments:  I was trying to identify a cool black/gray spider with a spiny "shell" on his abdomen. Your pictures helped a lot. It's similar to the spiny backed gasterocanthinae identified for other people in the unidentified spiders pages. It lives in the swampish woods behind our house, building webs across paths. Thanks for a terrific site!
