Phrase: I'll remember this for the rest of my life!
Comments: I am "TERRIFIED" of spiders and have been for as many years as
I can remember. I live in CT in a wood house, in the woods, and I feel like
I live "In a Web". All I ever talk about are spiders or webs and how many I
have seen. I truly am arachnaphobic and it was suggested to me to start to
desensitize myself by looking and reading about them on my computer. To be
honest, the more I read, the worse my fear gets and it is truly bad. I now
shake my clothes because someone stated that spiders like to hide in
clothes! By the time I finish going through all of the pages, if my
heart can handle it :) every story that has been written about where spiders
hide, I will be on the look and never be over my phobia! Sorry to be
complaining like this but if you have any suggestions, I would LOVE TO HEAR
FROM YOU! I am a 54 year old woman and maybe it is too late. Oh, one more
thing. I want to tell you I have a wonderful husband. I don't know what I
would do without him. Thank You, Ann Marie

Comments: This is the most informative site i have been to yet. Its
well put together and really well thought out. I am an aracnophobic, I fear
and have always feared spiders. I was quite surprised to find out that
spiders are very lucky, although not in my house. I will however (unless
venomous) think twice about sucking them up my vaccum hose, because they are
deemed to be lucky. I will try to tolerate them, and leave them alone.
Unless of course they jump on me.

even more
awsomeneriffic would be if you had a search that you could describe the
spider that you found/saw and then BAM! there would be information about it.
that would make this site the best spider site that i have ever been to.
because like we found this one spider that was black and it had white spots
on its back and it was pretty tiny and it was also fuzzy i was just
wandering what kind of spider that was. do you think you could let
me know? well nice visiting your site. lub ya, tarah

Comments: Thanks to your great web site, we now know what our
regular visitor outside our sliding glass door leading to our deck happens
to be! It's a Garden Orb Weaver - female (1" + in size) - named Henrietta (a
regular visitor has to have a name). We know when she's had a good night as
her beautiful web is then a mess, from
scurrying around and getting her buggy meals. When that happens, she packs
up her web as the sun is coming up and goes up above the door, where she
spends the rest of her day. Today, we can see she did not have a great night
as her web is pretty much intact and she's still in the middle, waiting for
breakfast. I do disturb her late in the
morning as I don't want to head out to the deck later and encounter her on
my head! Thank you for your good information. Marie in Northern Virginia

Comments: I did not realize that there were so many diffrent types of
spiders out there! I learned alot during this visit. I was originally
looking for a picture of a spider that I saw outside of my house the other
day but was unable to locate it here. When I describe it to people I call it
a sproach because it looked like a cross between a spider and a roach but
the entire back was orange. I had never seen anything like it before so I
was curious as to what it is called which is how I came across this
fantastic site!

Found: Trying to identify our spider, an Argiopes
Phrase: Fantastic!
Comments: Our Argiopes weathered Hurricane Katrina! My daughter
and I named her after the storm. Most of our trees were torn down from the
wind, but ol' Katrina hung onto her web as long as she could, then roosted
up under our gutters until it stopped. She then proceeded to remake a new
web. So, when I read that right after she lays an egg sac, she would
soon die, I wanted to cry! She is so majestic and beautiful! She deserves
much more respect than that! She survived a category 5 hurricane to simply
croak! Her egg sac is still up in the corner of the gutter on the house. I
want to take care of her offspring to continue her lineage.

Found: looking for sites to identify the spiders around our home
Phrase: Fantastic!
Comments: Your site is wonderfully informational and you are doing
an excellent job. This is the best resource I have found in my quest to
identify and scare away the children's fears. I think it is great that
you have taken so much time and consideration to answer so many
questions and aid so many people. I know that my eight year old girls
appreciate knowing very much that the spiders their brothers were
chasing them around the house with are not poisonous or aggressive. I
have one more question, I have been so far inable to locate what i think
looks like the last spider I found on the windchime, I don't have a
picture and can only describe it by saying that it looks like a hermit
crab, but it was definately a spider, it was brown and its abdomen was
enormous and bulbous shaped like a hermit crab.
